Ogden family papers, 1767-1822 1802-1813.

These papers consist of nine documents dating from 1767-1822 that were generated by four members of the Ogden family: David Ogden, David B. Ogden, Aaron Ogden, and Uzal Ogden, Jr. The papers consist mainly of correspondence. Topics include business matters of the East Jersey Proprietors, a land dispute with Elisha Boudinot (1749-1819), missionary business for the Society for the Propagation of the Gospel, a steamboat case against Walter Rutherford, and the arming New Jersey troops.

David Ogden (1707-1798) was a lawyer, head of the New Jersey Bar, an associate judge of the New Jersey Colonial Supreme Court, and a member of and counsel for the East Jersey Proprietors.
